StorkCraft 4 in 1 crib – Feathering the nest is one of the most exciting moments for expectant parents. Next, to the joys of seeing her 4D sonogram pictures or feeling her solid kicks from the inside, buying stuff for the little one makes new parents giddy with anticipation.
If you are part of this exciting pair, you must have scoured the whole town for the perfect and safest cribs, and perhaps, you’ve come across Storkcraft 4 in 1 cribs, because I did when I went to my local baby store. You must have visited, and revisited, the same stores to regularly check on new designs and possible discounts on baby stuff. You must have Googled cute baby clothes or ‘the best cribs’ a hundred times. Don’t worry, this behavior is normal. I’ve done it, too. And I’m worse because I had twins. So I had to do double the work, boy and girl.
And then there’s the baby shower where we get most of our stuff. But there are just some things that don’t come very often with baby showers. One of these is a crib. I learned from friends and experience that no matter how many times we put the crib on the Wish List, it gets ignored. I even made it easy for my sisters, because I put in StorkCraft 4 in 1 crib, and they still ignored it!
But perhaps, it’s for the best. Because when I think about it now, it’s good that I bought my own StorkCraft 4 in 1 cribs. First, let’s look at sleeping choices: some moms prefer co-sleeping, but we all know the dangers it poses. Some prefer the smaller business. But for the most convenience and safety, most mothers still opt for the crib.
Because of this, your baby will most likely spend more time in a crib than anywhere else. So while comfort is an important factor, choosing the right crib for safety is also essential. According to BabyCenter.com, these are the things that we parents should be looking for when buying a crib:
Safety standards – look for the Juvenile Products Manufacturing Association (JPMA) certification to make sure that it has been tested for safety and quality.
Slats no more than 2 3/8 inches apart – this way we know that the slats are too small for a baby’s head to go through.
Safe corner posts – corner posts should be no higher than 1/16 of an inch.
Adjustable mattress height – the mattress height can be adjusted by raising or lowering the mattress support. It should be higher for newborns to allow easier lifting of the baby out of the crib and lower for older kids to keep them from climbing out or falling off.
Stability – give the crib a good shake to see if it wobbles or rattles. It is smarter to buy a crib with stationary sides; it takes safety to another level.
Frame size – the interior of the crib should easily accommodate standard crib mattresses. Some cribs are just too wide or too small for mattresses and having one custom-made for your crib may cost you extra bucks that you can spend on other important baby gear.
Versatility – get more use of the crib and buy one that converts into a toddler bed, a day bed and even a full size bed with headboards and footboards. Some manufacturers make these models and they are pretty easy to assemble and convert.
I got all of these from StorkCraft. Storkcraft is an industry leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of juvenile furniture like cribs, beds, chests, gliders and ottomans. All their products meet, if not exceed, the standards set by JPMA. They support JPMA’s Sleep Safe Initiative that provides valuable information on safe sleep for children.
I personally found that Storkcraft cribs and all its features are regulated by the US CPSC and Health Canada, in Canada, to make sure they meet the safety standards. A Storkcraft 4 in 1 crib undergoes extensive and rigorous testing before it is released to the market.
Of all the Storkcraft cribs, I chose the StorkCraft Verona Convertible Crib and the StorkCraft Tuscany Convertible Crib, two of the company’s most popular products that meet all the things parents should look for when buying a crib for their little one. Yes, the cribs in the nursery do not match, but that was our choice. And I was so glad that there was a StorkCraft 4 in 1 crib for each one that fit my criteria. These are:
- 4 in 1 Fixed Side Convertible Crib
- Solid stationary sides
- Three mattress-support positions
- Solid wood and wood product construction
- Easy to assemble with permanently attached instructions
Both Storkcraft 4 in 1 cribs have matching accessories like a changing table, chest, dresser or glider and ottoman that would complete your nursery.
I found that the charming StorkCraft Convertible Crib is a good investment. It grows with the baby, from a standard crib to a toddler bed to a daybed and finally into a full bed with headboard and footboard. All I need to change is the mattress when I’m finally using it as a full bed. It might just be the only sleep furniture I’d be buying for my child in a long time.
On the other hand, the StorkCraft Tuscany Convertible Crib has a magical sleigh design that makes it a “royal centerpiece for your nursery”. It is also a 4-in-1 crib built in solid wood with non-toxic durable finishes. The crib is sturdy and does not scratch easily. My baby can be teething and start biting on the railing and all I’ll get would be hardly-noticeable dents. It is also fairly easy to assemble; just remember to do it inside the room where you want it. This Storkcraft crib is a little too wide and might not fit through a normal bedroom door. Having a nursery for twins, we knew that we would need bigger everything!
Just like me, all parents want what is best for their little bundles of joy. Choosing the safest, most comfortable things for our children is one way of showing how much the little one is loved and adored. A lot of products are out there in the market; some are safe, but some can be potentially dangerous. The key is in knowing which one deserves a place in the nest we are building.
I was a first-time Mom, so I relied on reviews and advice from friends. I am hoping that this review will help others. I am sure that you’ll be more than satisfied with the StorkCraft 4 in 1 crib you’ll get. In the end, safety is paramount, and I will not sacrifice this for price or looks. I’m just so happy that I found them all on my StorkCraft cribs!
